10-Step Valentine's Day Jam Cookie Recipe

Happy Valentine’s Day from Maury Island Farm

Valentine’s Day is almost here, which makes now the perfect time to bake a delicious treat for the occasion. Using Maury Island’s Red Raspberry Jam, these luscious heart-shaped cookies are easy to make and sure to delight friends and family.

Follow these simple instructions and create gorgeous raspberry jam-filled cookies in time for the upcoming holiday.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Salted Butter
  • 2 ½ Cups of Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • ½ Cup of Powdered Sugar
  • Red Raspberry Jam

Step 1:

Begin by preheating the oven to 375°.

Step 2:

Briefly warm one cup of salted butter until it begins to melt and mix it into a bowl with two eggs and one cup of sugar.

Step 3:

After the ingredients are sufficiently mixed together, add flour in small amounts, mixing it in as soon as it is included. The flour determines the consistency of the cookies. More flour will lead to a firmer-texture, while less will lead to a softer-texture. Use the 2 ½ cups as a guideline and not a strict rule.

Step 4:

As soon as the cookie dough takes shape, wrap it in wax paper and chill for one hour. Chilling allows the cookie dough to harden further, making it much easier to roll and cut out.

Step 5:

Remove the cookie dough from the fridge. With a rolling pin, begin to flatten the dough until it is only 1-2 centimeters high off the counter.

Step 6:

With the use of a knife or a heart-shaped cutout, create two cutouts in the cookie dough. The first is a heart with the inside filled in, and the second is a heart of a similar size, but the inside removed, creating the outline of a heart.

Step 7:

Place each heart outline on a baking sheet and place it in the oven for 7-8 minutes, while the filled in hearts should be placed on another sheet and baked for 10-11 minutes.

Both of these cutouts should be cooked on different sheets. Because the heart outlines are thinner than the filled-in heart, the baking time will be shorter.

These cookies should also be removed if the bottom of the cookies begins to turn golden brown.

Step 8:

After removing the heart-outlines from the oven, lightly sprinkle powdered sugar across the surface of each cookie. After removing the filled-in hearts from the oven, glaze with Red Raspberry Jam.

Step 9:

With these two cookies, place the outlines on top of the filled-in hearts to create a heart-shaped jam cookie.

Step 10:
