Jam is made from a few simple ingredients, meaning each one is crucially important. To get started making jam, all that is needed is fresh fruit and sugar, but making gourmet jam is a much more complicated process.
At Maury Island Farm, the jam process begins with the fruit itself. Locally sourced from the Pacific Northwest, berries are harvested at the peak of freshness. These berries are then combined with fruit pectin and sometimes, lemon juice.
Today is the beginning of a new winter season. The days are shorter, nights are colder, and it is the perfect time to stay cozy indoors. The winter season brings people together, making a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation by making delicious meals.
While many people enjoy the marionberry jam, fewer people know where marionberries come from. While other berries such as blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries occur often in nature, the marionberry does not.
From everyone at Maury Island Farm, we would like to say thank you for all of the wonderful support we have received over the last several years. What started as a small passion has since grown into a large community of people who share a passion for gourmet jam.
